DABCYL acid is one of the most popular acceptors for developing FRET-based nucleic acid probes suh as Molecular Beacon-based PCR probes. It is also used to prepare a variety of FRET peptides that are often used for the detection of various proteases. It is predominantly paired with EDANS (as fluorescence donor) in FRET-based fluorescent probes.
