Is BrdU (Bromodeoxyuridine) light sensitive?

Posted September 3, 2021

Answer

Yes, BrdU (Bromodeoxyuridine) is light sensitive. During cell proliferation assays, BrdU should be added in the dark. Incubations also must be in a dark environment. This is because cells pulsed with BrdU may be photosensitive. To preserve the integrity of BrdU, it must be stored at +2 to +8°C and protected from light in storage.
