Drug-BSA Conjugates
AAT Bioquest offers a comprehensive range of Drug-BSA Conjugates designed for immunoassay development and antibody production. These hapten-carrier protein conjugates enable researchers to generate antibodies against small molecule drugs, veterinary antibiotics, controlled substances, and environmental contaminants. The conjugates are essential tools for developing ELISA assays, screening antibodies, and creating detection systems for food safety testing, forensic toxicology, and pharmaceutical research.

Opioid and Controlled Substance Conjugates

Drug-BSA conjugates for opioids and controlled substances are critical tools for developing immunoassays used in forensic toxicology, clinical testing, and drug abuse monitoring. These conjugates enable the generation of specific antibodies against synthetic opioids and their metabolites, which are increasingly important for addressing the ongoing opioid crisis. Our portfolio includes high-quality conjugates for fentanyl, norfentanyl, and emerging synthetic opioids like isotonitazene.
  • High-quality opioid conjugates: Fentanyl, norfentanyl, and isotonitazene formats for comprehensive coverage
  • Veterinary tranquilizer detection: Xylazine conjugates address emerging drug monitoring needs
Veterinary Antibiotic Conjugates

These conjugates are designed for developing immunoassays to detect antibiotic residues in food products, supporting food safety testing and regulatory compliance. The portfolio covers major classes of veterinary antibiotics including nitrofuran metabolites, fluoroquinolones, sulfonamides, and amphenicols. Ready-to-use conjugates streamline ELISA development and antibody screening workflows.
  • Nitrofuran metabolite conjugates: AOZ, AMOZ, AHD, and SEM for detecting banned antibiotics
  • Fluoroquinolone and quinolone coverage: Ofloxacin, danofloxacin, and cinoxacin for antimicrobial surveillance
  • Amphenicol conjugates: Chloramphenicol and florfenicol formats with multiple carrier proteins
  • Sulfonamide options: Sulfadimidine, sulfathiazol, and sulfacetamide for comprehensive residue testing

Rabbits are immunized with BSA, BSA-AHD (Aminohydantoin), cBSA-AHD and hBSA-AHD conjugates.
Rabbits are immunized with BSA, BSA-AHD (Aminohydantoin), cBSA-AHD and hBSA-AHD conjugates. Antisera from immunized rabbits are tested for the immune response against AHD. Data indicate cBSA-AHD and hBSA-AHD exhibit a stronger immune response to AHD in comparison with BSA-AHD. Similar results are obtained for cOval and hOval conjugates (Mol Pharm. 2011 August 1; 8(4): 1174–1185).
Steroid Hormone and Other Drug Conjugates

These conjugates support the development of immunoassays for detecting steroid hormones and other bioactive compounds. Estradiol conjugates are particularly useful for hormone detection assays in clinical diagnostics and animal health monitoring. The selection includes both pre-made conjugates and reactive derivatives for custom synthesis.
  • Estradiol conjugates: Multiple formats including BSA conjugates, reactive derivatives, and NHS ester formats
  • Salinomycin conjugates: For detecting this ionophore antimicrobial in food samples
  • Crotonaldehyde conjugates: Available with both BSA and HSA carriers for oxidative stress biomarker detection
Optimized Carrier Proteins and Conjugation Kits

AAT Bioquest offers specially modified carrier proteins designed to maximize immune response when generating antibodies against haptens. These modified BSA and ovalbumin proteins feature increased positive charge density and maleimide-activated forms for convenient hapten coupling. The ReadiLink™ conjugation kit provides a simple alternative for custom drug-BSA conjugate preparation.
  • cBSA and hBSA: Modified with ethylenediamine or hexamethylenediamine to increase positive charge and enhance immunogenicity
  • Maleimide-activated versions: Pre-activated for efficient conjugation with cysteine-containing peptides and thiol-modified haptens
  • ReadiLink™ BSA Conjugation Kit: Convenient kit format for preparing custom drug-BSA conjugates in your laboratory
