Overview

AATOM™ 565 Maleimide is a commonly used thiol-reactive rhodamine dye. It might be used for labeling peptides and oligonucleotides. It readily reacts with compounds containing thiol groups, forming a chemically stable thiol ether bond between the dye and thiol compounds. The optimum pH range for maleimide coupling is pH 5.5 – 7.0. AATOM™ 565 Maleimide has strong absorption, high fluorescence quantum yield and high thermal/photostability. However, it has low water solubility. For the applications that require high water solubility, you may consider iFluor® 568 Maleimide that has almost identical fluorescence properties with greatly enhanced water solubility. In addition, the protein conjugates made from iFluor® 568 Maleimide are much brighter than those from AATOM™ 565 Maleimide. This product is manufactured by AAT Bioquest and is not affiliated with ATTO-TEC GmbH.
