Digoxigenin NHS ester
Digoxigenin (DIG) is a hapten, a small molecule with high antigenicity, which is used in many biological detections similarly to other popular haptens such as 2,4-Dinitrophenol (DNP) and biotin. Typically, digoxigenin is conjugated to a macrobiomolecule (e.g., proteins, nucleic acids, etc) to be detected. Anti-digoxigenin antibodies are labeled with fluorescent dyes or enzymes, directly or secondarily, for visualization and detection. Digoxigenin NHS ester is an activated ester which readily reacts with amino groups under mild conditions, attaching the digoxigenin moiety to proteins or amino-substituted oligonucleotides. Digoxigenin-labled biomolecules are used for biological detections in combination with anti-digoxigenin antibodies of high affinity and specificity.
