DSG is disuccinimidyl glutarate, a simple homobifunctional crosslinker based on the amine-reactive N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester group at both ends of a 5-atom (7.7 angstrom) spacer arm. It is used for crosslinking the molecules that have amine moiety. DSG is cell membrane-permeable. It is used in ChIP assays to determine DNA-protein binding interactions. DSG crosslinker must be dissolved in an organic solvent, such as DMSO or DMF, then added to an aqueous crosslinking reaction. Our in-house research demonstrated the DSG-crosslinked peptide conjugates have much better stability and tend to generate the antibodies of high specificity.
