Medetomidine azide

Product key features

  • Azide moiety enables bioorthogonal conjugation via copper-catalyzed or strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC or SPAAC) with a wide range of alkyne-modified biomolecules, including peptides, proteins, polymers, and nanomaterials.
  • Maintains high affinity for α2-adrenergic receptors preserving native pharmacological activity post-conjugation.
  • Well-suited for targeted delivery, receptor profiling, and chemical probe development in neuropharmacology and molecular imaging.

Product description

Medetomidine Azide is a functionalized derivative of medetomidine, a selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist, modified to incorporate an azide (-N₃) group for bioorthogonal conjugation via copper-catalyzed or copper-free click chemistry. The azide moiety allows for efficient and selective coupling to alkyne-functionalized molecules through Huisgen cycloaddition, enabling covalent attachment under mild conditions without interfering with biological activity. This reagent is ideal for applications requiring spatial and temporal control over conjugation, such as targeted drug delivery, receptor-ligand interaction studies, and the synthesis of functionalized probes or nanoparticles. Medetomidine Azide retains the pharmacological properties of the parent compound, making it a powerful tool for constructing receptor-targeted bioconjugates while preserving biological function.
