Overview

Screen Quest™ Colorimetric Chloride Channel Assay Kit is designed for studying chloride channel activity using a colorimetric iodide-sensitive assay format. Chloride channels play important roles in cellular processes such as pH regulation, volume homeostasis, solute transport, migration, proliferation, and differentiation. Because defects in chloride channel function are associated with disorders such as cystic fibrosis and Bartter’s syndrome, chloride channels are important targets in transporter biology and drug discovery research.

The assay is based on AAT Bioquest’s proprietary Iodide Blue™ indicator, which enables colorimetric measurement of iodide concentration. Iodide flux is commonly used as a surrogate readout for chloride channel activity because many chloride channels also permit iodide movement. The kit detects iodide concentrations as low as 30 nM under the reported assay conditions and is formatted for convenient 96-well or 384-well microplate workflows that can be adapted to automation. Screen Quest™ Colorimetric Chloride Channel Assay Kit is suitable for chloride channel activity studies, chloride channel modulator screening, transporter research, and high-throughput microplate-based assay development.
