XFD488 azide

XFD488 azide is an alkyl-reactive, green fluorescent dye with an excitation/emission of 499/520 nm that is used for flow cytometry and microscopy applications.

Schematic illustrating the azide–alkyne cycloaddition (“click chemistry”) between an azide‐functionalized dye and an alkyne‐presenting biomolecule. In the presence of a copper catalyst (CuAAC) or under strain‐promoted conditions (SPAAC), the azide and alkyne react to form a stable 1,2,3‐triazole linkage. This highly selective and robust reaction proceeds under mild conditions and tolerates a wide range of functional groups.

Overview

The fluorescent dye azides react with alkynes via a copper-catalyzed click reaction (CuAAC). This click chemistry is increasingly being used in a variety of biological applications. XFD488 azide has a chemical structure similar to Alexa Fluor® 488 azide (Alexa Fluor® is the Trademark of Thermo Fisher Scientific). XFD488 azide is reactive with terminal alkynes via a copper-catalyzed click reaction as a bio-orthogonal or biologically unique hapten for use in applications requiring signal amplification.
