Is it better to use paraffin embedding or frozen sections?

Posted February 25, 2020

Answer

Both paraffin embedding and cryopreservation (freezing) have their advantages and disadvantages. For example, paraffin embedding is preferred for preserving morphological details, whereas cryopreservation is better at preserving enzyme and antigen expression. Therefore, the optimal method for each experiment should be determined by considering the nature of the sample and the purpose for embedding.
