What does CoA transferase do?

Posted September 8, 2021

Answer

CoA transferases are found in several prokaryotes and in mammalian tissues. They are responsible for the reversible transfer of coenzyme A (CoA) groups from one carboxylic acid to another. There are three known families of CoA transferases. Each one differs from the others in terms of their primary sequence, substrate specificity and reaction mechanism.
