What does calcium imaging measure?

Posted July 28, 2021

Answer

Calcium imaging measures the calcium status of an isolated cell, tissue or medium. The technique makes use of calcium indicators that react to the binding of calcium ions by fluorescence properties. Researchers study the intracellular calcium changes to study calcium signaling in living neurons.
