The isoelectric point of a zwitterion is the pH at which its positive and negative charges balance or cancel each other out, resulting in a net charge of zero. Every zwitterion has its own specific isoelectric point, which is indicated as pI. At its isoelectric point, a zwitterion molecule as a whole is electrically neutral and will not migrate in an electric field.
