Which types of cells in the body require the most ATP?

Answer

Muscle cells require the most ATP.

Muscle cells are responsible for all of our movements. Most of the energy burned during the day is through the movement of the body by skeletal muscles. These muscles require large amounts of energy in order to perform the necessary mechanical work. This energy is obtained by the breaking down of ATP. Muscle cells also contain the highest number of mitochondria, which is the site where ATP is synthesized from ADP through a process known as chemiosmotic phosphorylation.
