There are various applications of psoralen. It is mainly used in combination with UVA radiation (PUVA therapy) to treat various dermatological conditions such as psoriasis, vitiligo. It also is effective in treating various cancers (e.g. cutaneous T-cell lymphoma) by utilizing its ability to react when exposed to light and specifically targeting rapidly dividing cells. Psoralen's ability to promote bone formation and enhance bone density also makes it a potential treatment for osteoporosis.
