What are the applications of TRITC-dextran?

Posted November 10, 2022

Answer

TRITC-Dextran (Tetramethylrhodamine isothiocyanate–Dextran) is used extensively as a fluorescent dye in the study of cell processes such as permeability, microcirculation, and transport in cells, endocytosis, and phagocytosis. It is also used as a fluorescent dye to improve mechanisms of biomolecular drug delivery.

TRITC-Dextran offers two significant advantages over FITC-dextrans for the above applications. The first is its fluorescence is not dependent on pH in the range of 4 to 9. The second is that it does not bind to walls of arteries.
