What are the types of neuronal tracers?

Posted December 6, 2023

Answer

There are two types of neuronal tracers – anterograde tracers and retrograde tracers. They are differentiated based on their direction of travel within neurons.

Anterograde tracers enter the neuronal cell bodies at the injection site and travel down the axon to terminal processes.

Retrograde tracers travel from the terminals of the axons back to the cell body.
