What does mass spectrometry detect?

Posted May 24, 2022

Answer

Mass spectrometry detects a wide range of characteristics in scientific experiments. It can detect the mass and elemental composition of a specific sample, as well as the chemical composition of large molecules. By measuring a sample's molecular weight, it is possible to identify an unknown compound. Additionally, mass spectrometry allows quantification of known compounds.
