What is a pure culture?

Posted November 6, 2023

Answer

A pure culture is a population of cells or multicellular organisms originating from a single organism or single cell of the same species. The cells are genetically identical to each other. A pure culture is obtained by transferring a small sample onto a sterile growth medium so that a single cell takes up an isolated area on the agar surface.
