What's the principle of bacterial transformation?

Posted February 23, 2024

Answer

Bacterial transformation is based on the innate ability of bacteria to release DNA, which is subsequently absorbed by another competent bacterium. The effectiveness of bacterial transformation depends on the host cell’s competence. Competence refers to the host cell’s ability to assimilate naked DNA during the process.
