Which components are associated with minerals' active absorption?

Posted January 4, 2024

Answer

The components associated with minerals’ active absorption include transport proteins present in the root hairs. The minerals in plants are actively moved through the roots, requiring energy from ATP. Transport proteins found in endodermal cells regulate the type and quantity of dissolved substances which reach the xylem for further transport. The minerals absorbed by roots are then distributed to various plant parts via transpiration pull. Minerals are also necessary to fuel plant growth;as a result minerals are transferred from older plant regions to support the nutrition needs of growing areas. More specifically, plants require a total of 13 mineral nutrients for their growth. Among these, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, sulfur, and potassium.
