Ibuprofen (Also known as: 2-(4-Isobutylphenyl)propanoic Acid, Motrin) is a colorless, crystalline stable solid commonly used as a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory (NSAID) drug which is available both by prescription and over-the-counter. Nonprescription ibuprofen is useful for managing minor aches and pains, reducing fever, and relieving symptoms of dysmenorrhea. Chemically, it derives from a propionic acid. It is absorbed by ingestion.
