Psilocybine (Also known as: Psilocybine, Indocybin, Psilocin Phosphate Ester) is a hallucinogenic substance found in certain mushrooms, specifically the major hallucinogenic alkaloid isolated from Psilocybe mushrooms (also known as Teonanacatl or "magic mushrooms"). It has a role as a hallucinogen, a fungal metabolite, a prodrug and a serotonergic agonist. It is currently being tested in clinical trials as a treatment for various types of pain management and depressive symptoms. It is absorbed via ingestion.
