White Phosphorus (Also known as: Phosphorus) is a colorless, white, or yellow waxy solid with a garlic-like odor. Shipped as a solid or liquid in an atmosphere of inert gas or as a solid under water. Uses include munitions manufacture, pyrotechnics, explosives, smoke bombs, artificial fertilizers, and rat poisons. It can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, ingestion, or skin contact. It is unknown whether systemic exposure can occur from eye contact.
