Förster Distance Calculator

Förster distance is a key parameter in fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), representing the distance at which energy transfer between two fluorophores (donor and acceptor) is 50% efficient. It is calculated based on factors such as the spectral overlap between donor emission and acceptor absorption, the quantum yield of the donor, the extinction coefficient of the acceptor, and the relative orientation of the molecules. This tool allows users to select donor and acceptor fluorophores to calculate their predicted Förster distance.
