DNA Quantification
AAT Bioquest offers a comprehensive selection of DNA quantification solutions designed for accurate measurement of double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA, and total nucleic acids. Our portfolio includes the Helixyte™ and Portelite™ product lines, which deliver performance equivalent to industry standards like PicoGreen® and Qubit™ at competitive pricing, offering high-sensitivity assays detecting as little as 25 pg/mL dsDNA to broad-range kits for diverse sample concentrations.
Double-Stranded DNA (dsDNA) Quantitation

Helixyte™ Green dsDNA Quantitation Kits
Helixyte™ Green is a fluorescent dye that exhibits minimal fluorescence when free in solution but displays dramatic signal enhancement upon binding to double-stranded DNA. This mechanism provides exceptional signal-to-background ratios and selective dsDNA detection in the presence of ssDNA, RNA, and other contaminants. Multiple kit formats accommodate different sensitivity requirements and instrument platforms.
Key Features
  • Equivalent performance to PicoGreen® at lower cost
  • High-sensitivity kits detect as little as 25 pg/mL dsDNA
  • Selective for dsDNA with minimal interference from ssDNA, RNA, or proteins
  • Broad dynamic range options spanning 4 orders of magnitude
  • Ready-to-use reagents with pre-optimized assay buffers
  • Excitation/Emission of ~502/522 nm—compatible with standard FITC filter sets

Portelite™ dsDNA Quantitation Kits
Portelite™ kits are optimized for benchtop fluorometers including AAT Bioquest's CytoCite™ and Thermo Fisher's Qubit™ instruments. These kits deliver rapid, accurate DNA quantitation using ready-to-use reagents and pre-calibrated standards, making them ideal for laboratory QC workflows and field applications. Portelite™ performance is equivalent to Qubit™ reagents at competitive pricing.
Key Features
  • Direct compatibility with CytoCite™ and Qubit™ fluorometers
  • Performance equivalent to Qubit™ reagents
  • Complete kits with standards, buffer, and reagents included
  • Results in minutes with simple mix-and-read protocol
  • Available in high-sensitivity and broad-range formats
  • Options for dsDNA, ssDNA, and total nucleic acid quantitation
Single-Stranded DNA (ssDNA) and Total Nucleic Acid Quantitation

For applications requiring quantitation of single-stranded DNA or total nucleic acid content (DNA plus RNA), AAT Bioquest offers specialized kits with dyes optimized for these targets. These products are essential for oligonucleotide synthesis QC, library preparation, and comprehensive sample characterization.
Custom DNA Quantification Assay Development

Helixyte™ Green dyes are available as stand-alone reagents for researchers who require custom assay development or integration into proprietary fluorescence-based DNA detection workflows. The dye exhibits exceptional fluorescence enhancement (>1000-fold) upon DNA binding and maintains spectral equivalence to SYBR® Green, delivering validated, reliable performance.
Key Features
  • Spectrally equivalent to SYBR® Green with proven reliability
  • >1000-fold fluorescence enhancement upon dsDNA binding
  • Available in multiple reactive forms for diverse conjugation strategies
  • Compatible with standard FITC filter sets (Ex/Em = 498/522 nm)
  • Suitable for antibody, peptide, and biomolecule labeling
