Purified Anti-human CD8 Antibody *OKT-8*
OKT-8 is an anti-human monoclonal antibody that forms an immune complex with the CD8a antigen. CD8a (alternatively called T8 or MAL) is a 32 - 34 kD transmembrane glycoprotein that is located on the surface of cells such as T cells. CD8 is a component of essential cellular pathways, namely, the transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway and cell surface receptor signaling pathway. From a research standpoint, it is of biological interest due to its association with important macromolecules/ligands like Lck and MHCI. CD8 is a very popular antibody target, with over 120000 publications in the last decade. CD8a has a variety of applications in immunology research, commonly serving as a phenotypic marker for differentiating cell types in flow cytometric applications. This antibody was purified through affinity chromatography.
