Are zwitterion molecules stable?

Posted July 2, 2021

Answer

Zwitterion molecules are largely unstable in their pure state. However, they become relatively more stable when metalated, protonated or solvated by one or more water molecules or when accompanied with an excess electron. Solvation is by and large a major contributing factor to stabilizing zwitterion molecules
