What are coumarin dyes used for?

Posted December 13, 2021

Answer

Coumarin dyes are UV-excitable, water soluble, blue fluorescent dyes. They are often used in multicolor applications to provide contrast between the substances. These dyes are usually only recommended for use in cell tracking applications or with highly abundant targets because their fluorescence tends to be obscured by autofluorescence in other applications.
