What is the difference between acetone dehydration and ethanol dehydration?

Posted April 24, 2020

Answer

Dehydration with ethanol may cause less unintended elution or extraction of cellular components from the sample since it is not as strong a solvent as acetone. On the other hand, dehydration with acetone, particularly cold acetone, may cause less shrinkage of sample.
