What is the reason for positive staining in negative control tissue during Immunohistochemistry (IHC)?

Answer

In the case of positive staining in negative control tissue, one possible explanation is contamination of the primary antibody. If DAB is used, the positive staining could be due to endogenous peroxidase activity. To remedy this, you can block with 3% hydrogen peroxide prior to staining with DAB.
