What is the significance of cluster differentiation CD markers in immunophenotyping?

Posted April 2, 2020

Answer

Cluster of differentiation, or CD, is a method used to identify cell surface molecules for immunophenotyping.

CD markers, which are also known as CD antigens, are the cell surface molecules found on cells involved in the immune system. These CD markers allow cells to be identified based on what kinds of cell surface molecules are present.
