What is the size range of mammalian cells?

Posted April 2, 2019

Answer

Most mammalian cells are between 10 to 100 µm in diameter.

HeLa cells are normally 20 ~ 40 µm in diameter depending on the culture conditions. Red blood cells, one of the smallest human cells, have a diameter of around 8 µm. Muscle fiber cells and neurons on the other hand can be extremely long.
