What role does the Golgi apparatus play in the secretory pathway?

Posted April 2, 2021

Answer

In the secretory pathway, the Golgi apparatus is responsible for modifying, sorting, packaging and transporting proteins and lipid molecules. Transport vesicles budded from the trans-Golgi network (TRG) carry modified macromolecules to the cell surface for secretion to the extracellular environment.
