Do Treg cells recognize self, non-self or both?

Posted March 5, 2024

Answer

In the most recent analysis involving hundreds of T-cell receptors (TCRs), including rarely used TCRs, there was scant evidence indicating that Treg cells preferably recognized self-antigens. Instead, the study led to the conclusion that Treg cells predominantly recognize non-self antigens and recognizing self-antigens may be the exception rather than the rule.
