How do I choose the appropriate antibody labeling kit?

Posted April 18, 2023

Answer

Determining the appropriate antibody labeling kit is dependent on various factors including: the label type, antibody type, multiplexing, and fluorescence brightness. There are different types of labeling chemistries such as fluorescent dyes, enzymes, and biotin. They each have a different compatibility with the desired antibody and should be chosen based on that. Another factor is the antibody type, as monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies may be used depending on the experiment. Multiplexing is another thing to consider, as some experiments require multiple antibodies to be labeled for simultaneous detection. The fluorescent brightness is another factor, as one should consider the brightness of the dye and its compatibility with the detection method.
