How does temperature affect enzyme activity?
Posted February 3, 2023
Answer
Every enzyme functions most efficiently within a specific temperature range. Raising the temperature increases the level of enzyme activity and speeds up a reaction. However, at extreme high temperatures, the enzyme gets denatured, loses its shape, and becomes inactive. Lowering the temperature below the optimum range retards the level of enzyme activity and slows down a reaction.
