What are the advantages of electron microscopy?

Posted December 7, 2023

Answer

Two key advantages are that it offers high magnification and resolution. Since electron beams rather than light waves are used, structures that would otherwise be invisible are able to be visualized. The resolution of electron microscopy can reach up to 0.2 nm, producing images which are 1000 times more detailed than those obtained through light microscopy. Another advantage is that these microscopes have a large depth of field, which permits the visualization of more samples at one time.
