Fluorometric assays of cell viability and cytotoxicity offer several advantages over traditional colorimetric and dye exclusion assays. They are simple, safe, rapid, inexpensive, and applicable to a wide range of cell types. They are also applicable to both adherent cells as well as cell suspensions.
