Probe-based real-time PCR fluorescent-labeled target-specific probes to measure DNA amplification at each cycle of a PCR. These are some of the advantages this method offers: 

  • Increased specificity and sensitivity because only specific DNA molecules are labeled
  • Minimum background fluorescence
  • Allows multiplex reactions by designing different amplicons with unique fluorophores based on the optical capabilities of the qPCR instrument
  • Provides a more accurate and reproducible analysis
