What are the advantages of semi-dry transfer technique for western blot?

Posted April 10, 2024

Answer

Semi-dry western blot transfers are often preferred for its efficiency in terms of time and reagent usage compared to traditional wet transfers. However, while it works well for many proteins, it may not be ideal for all. It completes the transfer in just 7 minutes for a mix of molecular weights, or 10 minutes for higher molecular weights. Additionally, it functions without the need for energy-intensive cooling. The method also reduces hazardous waste associated with transfer buffers due to its minimal volume requirements.
