What are the applications of the yeast protein expression system?

Posted August 5, 2023

Answer

Applications of the yeast protein expression system include: expression and analysis of eukaryotic proteins, protein interactions, therapeutics, and enzyme production. Yeast protein systems are used for developing different enzymes such as lipases, amylases and proteases. These systems can introduce the gene encoding the eukaryotic protein into yeast cells for expression. Yeast protein systems also play a role in therapeutic proteins such as being used to create insulin. Yeast cells can generate properly folded proteins that exhibit high bioactivity, making them useful for therapeutic applications. These systems are also suited for large-scale production.
