What are the properties of paracrine signaling?

Answer
Paracrine signaling refers to when cells communicate with one another through short distances via the secretion of signaling molecules. These signals can only induce a response in specific nearby target cells as molecules are typically broken down by enzymes or neutralized by adjacent cells. Paracrine signaling occurs through diffusion within the extracellular matrix.
