What are the similarities between progenitor cells and stem cells?

Posted November 6, 2023

Answer

One similarity is that both cell types are able to differentiate into specialized cells in multicellular organisms. Another similarity is that both types of cells are signaled by cytokines and growth factors (to differentiate into specialized cells). They are both capable of self-replication and play roles in tissue repair.
