What are types of T cells?

T cells are a type of white blood cell that play a main role in helping the immune system fight invading pathogens, thus preventing infection and disease. There are two main types of T cells - Cytotoxic T cells and Helper T cells. Although they are not considered one of the main types of T cells, regulatory T cells play an essential role in your immune system.

Each of the three types of T cells perform very specific functions within the immune system.
