What diseases could be treated by stem cell therapies?

In theory, stem cell therapies can be used to treat almost all types of diseases given that researchers can potentially study all cell types. Stem cell research is still relatively new but as of now, stem cell therapies can potentially be used to treat a wide range of diseases and injuries including but not limited to: 

  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  • Stroke
  • Heart disease
  • Type 1 diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Burns
