What is feedback inhibition?

Posted April 4, 2024

Answer

Feedback inhibition is a regulatory mechanism in which a chemical reaction in an organism is inhibited. During feedback inhibition, the end product of a biochemical pathway binds to an allosteric site of the enzyme, inhibiting the activity of the enzyme and preventing it from functioning effectively. This helps to regulate the end product of the reaction, preventing excessive accumulation.
