What is ionic binding?

Posted February 22, 2024

Answer

Ionic binding is a reversible immobilization method that is based on ionic interaction between the enzymes and the support materials. The support materials are generally charged, while the protein should have the opposite charge. This ionic interaction allows them to be bound to each other. The ionic bonding can be reversed by changing the pH or “salting out” of the enzymes.
