Answer
Acetyl coenzyme A (acetyl-CoA) is the precursor for fatty acid synthesis. Fatty acid synthesis involves a series of anabolic reactions that take place in the cytoplasm and are catalyzed by the enzyme fatty acid synthase. It results in the creation of fatty acid molecules from acetyl-CoA and NADPH molecules.
