Answer
The promoter region is a region of DNA located upstream of a gene which functions as a binding site for specific proteins, including RNA polymerase and transcription factors. These proteins bind to this region known as the promoter, to initiate the process of transcription, resulting in the synthesis of an RNA molecule.
